Installations, repairs, servicing and safety checks on gas, oil and LPG systems — carried out by Gas Safe and OFTEC registered engineers working across Winslow, Buckingham and the MK18 villages.
A new boiler is the biggest heating decision most households make, and the difference between a good and a bad installation shows up for the next fifteen years.
We install gas, oil and LPG boilers across Winslow and the surrounding villages — combi, system and regular. Every quote starts with a proper survey rather than a form on a website: we look at the radiator count, the hot water demand, the incoming water flow rate, the flue route and the condition of the existing pipework, because those are the things that decide whether a boiler performs or disappoints.
Installations include a system clean, a magnetic filter, compliant heating controls to meet Boiler Plus, Building Regulations notification and warranty registration with the manufacturer. You get the price in writing before anything is ordered.
No heat, no hot water, or a fault code you have never seen before — the priority is getting a real diagnosis quickly rather than throwing parts at it.
We repair all the major makes on gas, oil and LPG: Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Glow-worm, Viessmann, Grant, Worcester oil, Firebird and more. Common jobs are diverter valves, pumps, expansion vessels, PCBs, fans, pressure sensors, gas valves, thermistors and frozen condensate pipes in winter.
We carry the fast-moving spares on the van, so a good proportion of breakdowns are finished on the first visit. Where a part has to be ordered, you get the price and the date before we leave — and if the boiler is genuinely beyond economic repair we will tell you that instead of taking your money.
A large share of properties around Winslow are off the mains gas grid and heat with oil. We are OFTEC registered, so oil is core work for us rather than something we sub out.
Oil boilers reward regular attention. The burner nozzle wears, electrodes foul with soot, the photocell dims and combustion drifts away from the manufacturer’s figures — all of which show up first as poor efficiency and eventually as a lockout on a cold morning. An annual service resets all of it.
We service, repair and replace oil-fired boilers including Grant, Worcester, Firebird, Warmflow and Boulter, and we check the storage tank, bund, filter and supply line as part of the job rather than treating them as somebody else’s problem.
LPG is the other off-grid option around the MK18 villages, and it needs an engineer who holds the LPG qualification specifically — a natural gas ticket alone is not enough.
We are Gas Safe registered for LPG as well as natural gas, covering both bulk tank and bottled supplies. That includes new LPG boiler installations, servicing, breakdown repairs, appliance conversions and pipework from the tank or bottle bank into the property.
Because LPG runs at a different pressure and burns differently to natural gas, correct injector sizing, gas rate and combustion checks matter enormously. Every job finishes with the appliance tested and the readings recorded.
Every gas job in the UK must legally be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. We are on the register, and you are welcome to ask to see the card.
Beyond boilers we handle the rest of the gas installation: cooker and hob connections, gas fires, appliance servicing, pipework alterations, meter-to-appliance runs, gas tightness testing and landlord safety inspections.
For rental properties we issue the Landlord Gas Safety Record (CP12) that you are required to hold and share with tenants, testing every appliance and the installation as a whole.
The boiler is only one part of the system. Cold rooms, weak showers and noisy pipes usually come from everything downstream of it.
We upgrade and repair whole heating systems: radiator replacement and relocation, powerflushing, magnetic filters, thermostatic valves, zone valves and controls, and full pipework renewals in older Buckinghamshire properties where microbore has had its day.
We also install and service unvented hot water cylinders, which are usually the right answer when a large house needs strong hot water at more than one outlet at once. General plumbing — leaks, taps, toilets, outside taps and bathroom work — is part of the service too.
A quick guide before the survey — the right answer depends on your hot water demand, your mains water flow and how much space you have.
| Boiler type | Best suited to | Hot water | Things to weigh up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Combi | Flats and smaller homes with one bathroom | Instant, unlimited, no cylinder | Flow drops if two outlets run at once; needs good mains pressure |
| System | Larger houses with two or more bathrooms | Stored in an unvented cylinder | Needs cylinder space; strong simultaneous flow |
| Regular (heat only) | Older properties with existing tanks | Cylinder fed from a loft tank | Simplest upgrade on vulnerable old pipework; takes loft space |
| Oil-fired | Off-grid rural properties | Combi or cylinder versions available | Tank siting and annual servicing are essential |
| LPG | Off-grid homes wanting gas-style heating | Combi or system versions available | Bulk tank or bottles; fuel cost varies with supplier contract |
We supply it. Buying through the trade means the appliance is registered correctly for its manufacturer warranty and we can stand behind the whole installation rather than only the labour. If you have already bought a boiler we can still fit it, but the warranty position is worth discussing first.
A powerflush pushes cleaning chemicals through the system at high flow to clear out the magnetite sludge that builds up in radiators and pipework. You need it when radiators are cold at the bottom, the system is noisy, or you are fitting a new boiler onto old pipework — most manufacturers require the system to be cleaned for the warranty to stand. On a clean, newer system it is unnecessary and we will tell you so.
In most cases yes, but it is a system decision rather than a straight swap: the appliance, the flue, the fuel storage and the running costs all change. We survey the property, price both options honestly, and let you weigh up the tank siting and fuel prices before committing.
Around an hour for a gas boiler, and a little longer for oil because the burner comes out, the nozzle is replaced and combustion is re-tested with an analyser. We leave you with the service record you need for your warranty.
Yes. We carry out landlord gas safety inspections (CP12) on rental properties across Winslow and the MK18 area, testing every gas appliance and the installation pipework, and issuing the record you are legally required to give your tenants.
Describe the symptoms and we will point you at the right fix — even when that turns out to be the cheaper option.
